I want to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Mrs. Opsteen-Van Dyke, although I am more commonly known as Mrs. OVD.
I graduated summa cum laude from UW-Oshkosh in 1997 with a degree in Elementary Education, and a certification for grades one through eight with a minor in Language Arts. After my college career, I was hired by KCSS and taught sixth and eighth grades for six years before leaving to become a stay-at-home-mom. After four years of being home with my daughter, I returned to KCSS and taught eighth grade again for four years before moving to St. Al's where I have been teaching second grade for three years.
When I am not teaching, I am spending time with my family—my husband, Jon, and my daughter, Emmaline. As a family we are active in St. Paul Catholic Church in Combined Locks, where we lead a young adult choir called Joyful Noise. Additionally, we enjoy camping, hiking, biking, geocaching, and snowshoeing. And perhaps one of our favorite things to do is to travel around the Great Lakes, visiting lighthouses. To date, we have seen over 200 lights of the Great Lakes!
Now that you know a little about me, I look forward to learning so much about your children throughout the year!
